A new fundraising innings will begin as Walsall NHS staff take to the field for their second annual charity cricket match on Bank Holiday Monday.
Families won’t just have cricket to enjoy, there will also be plenty of fun on offer, including a bouncy castle, children’s entertainment, and traditional cobs, as well as strawberries and cream.
The event will take place May 4 at Hammerwich Cricket Club in Burntwood and has been organised through Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.
Proceeds from the day will go towards a charity appeal to support the refurbishment of Recovery Rooms in Theatre 11 at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The event runs from 12pm to 4pm, with entry costing just £2 per person. The club’s bar will be open, and Ruby Doo Events will delight younger visitors with entertainment from 12pm until 1pm.
Mehboobali Shariff, Porter at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “I really enjoyed playing in the game last year and I’m happy to be back again this year.
“It was a great day, and it’s even better when you’re raising funds for such a great cause.”
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager at Walsall Healthcare, said: “We’re really looking forward to Well Wishers’ Cricket Family Fun Day, last years was such a great event, and it promises to be the same again.
“We’re raising money for an important cause – transforming the recovery rooms in Paediatrics Theatre 11 to make the surgery process less daunting for our brave young patients.
“Entry fees are just £2, making it an affordable family treat, and the weather forecast is looking encouraging too.
“Good luck to all our staff taking part and supporting our charity in this way.”
