  • ICU was thankful for additional clinical support

Staff working in the Manor Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit have handed out hundreds of thank you cards to fellow colleagues across Walsall Healthcare in recognition of their help and support during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many were redeployed on to the unit from a host of different wards and community services.

Matron Angela Dixon said: “We want to thank all the non ICU staff across the trust for their willingness to come and work clinically day after day – and night after night – on ICU. This was invaluable in enabling the team to continue to give care to our patients during one of the busiest periods of the pandemic and is so much appreciated by the whole team.”

Michelle Collins, Physiotherapy Team Leader and Mr Salman Mirza, Divisional Director for Surgery, are among those who have received thank you cards.

Michelle said: “What a surprise! But it’s lovely to be thanked.”

Mr Mirza said: “I wasn’t expecting this, it’s a wonderful gesture. I would say that although I was a little apprehensive I had brilliant support from colleagues on the unit and being part of this team gave me a new level of respect for everything they do.”
