They’re in fine voice

If you caught Channel 4 News last Thursday you may have heard a taste of our Walsall Healthcare choir singing a beautiful version of the Coldplay song “Fix You.”

The original idea to record a song came from Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley who approached members of our Trust’s Got Talent winning act to see if staff would be willing to get on board. They were joined by other colleagues and our Chief Executive Richard Beeken. And they certainly rose to the challenge, rehearsing over just a couple of weeks and even learning sign language for the last verse.

Georgie said: “I defy anyone to watch the video and not shed a tear –the choir is amazing and the song is so emotional.

“Special thanks goes to Elizabeth Taylor from the ICS Discharge Team who organised everyone, set up practices and sorted the words and music. She was amazing.

“This has really brought people together and given us all an opportunity to stop and reflect on the teamwork that has been a fantastic support to both staff and patients and the fact that so many patients are now recovering following care on our ICU and wards.”
