Appointments will be much more fun for young patients using Walsall Healthcare’s children’s services thanks to the fundraising efforts of Brownhills company Top Marques Insurance.

Staff organised a Charity Dinner last month for Well Wishers, Walsall Healthcare’s charity, and raised a huge £4,577.

Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley and Carolyn Whyte, Divisional Director of Nursing put on their dancing shoes to attend the event and gave Top Marques top marks for a successful evening.

Georgie said: “It was a really well organised fundraiser and we’re going to use the money to buy portable sensory items such as projectors that cast images on the floor and allow children to interact. Images include puddles for instance and children can jump into them and see the effect this has.

“Our young patients will love this and it certainly makes appointments more fun and can also help when a child is upset or frightened as the equipment can be transported into the individual appointment.”

The company chose Well Wishers as it wanted to support a charity that was close to home – with staff acknowledging that Walsall Manor Hospital was their local hospital. Staff came into the Manor on Saturday to hand over the proceeds.

Shan Sarb Budesha, Top Marques Insurance Director, said: “Staff had read about Well Wishers from the point of view of others who had supported the charity and we really liked the fact that this charity is really helping local communities who use healthcare services.”
