Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers has been chosen as the official charity partner for a celebratory event to recognise the people, organisations and businesses who make invaluable contributions in the borough.

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, has also been made a Walsall Awards Ambassador for the Walsall Awards – Business & Community event which is due to take place on 21 November at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.

Ali Mahmood, co-founder of the Awards, invited guests to a network event at The New Art Gallery Walsall on Thursday 1 October to make connections with each other and work in collaboration to shape Walsall’s future.

He said: “We all care about Walsall and know it has so much to offer. We want to celebrate its successes and let everyone know what a fantastic place it is, a place that we’re proud to be associated with.

“I’m so pleased to have Well Wishers on board too as our charity partner because it truly shows the power of communities coming together to do good.”

Carol Edmonson, a volunteer with Kaushalya UK, a charitable organisation to empower and uplift women, said: “It’s wonderful to be bringing people together like this with a shared ambition to recognise all the great things associated with Walsall.”

And Anthony Okome from Sui Generis Consultancy Limited, a businessman with family and friends in Walsall, said: “We were asked earlier to say just one thing we love about Walsall and for me it’s the fact it is such a multicultural area.”

Georgie said Well Wishers was looking forward to building up even more relationships in the community.

“Our community is fantastic – the kindest people and businesses come forward to help the charity provide items above and beyond what the NHS can to improve the experience of our patients, families and staff” she said.

“Whether it’s helping us organise an end-of-life wedding or supporting refurbishment projects, we are always thankful for people’s efforts. I hope this will be a really positive partnership.”
