Patients being cared for at Walsall’s Goscote Hospice can enjoy spending time outdoors in comfort thanks to a charity donation.

Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity has arranged for new table and chairs sets for the patio area  outside patients’ bedrooms. These go with large parasols that were previously bought through the charity and following donations from community supporters.

Deb Jones, Ward Manager at the hospice, said: “The sets can be used by families who want to spend time outdoors with their loved ones, or, we are able to push beds and recliner chairs outside, using the parasols as sun shade .

“Many of our patients want to feel the sun on their faces, or to enjoy the simple pleasure of being outside listening to the birds singing and we’re grateful to Well Wishers for helping to make this possible.  We have a lovely outside space at the hospice and want to help everyone to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said money donated through NHS Charities had been used to buy the ten sets of outdoor furniture.

She added: “The hospice is a fantastic support to patients and their families and we’re always pleased to help its committed and compassionate staff in any way we can to further enhance patients’ experience.”
