Well Wishers charity was wheely grateful to a local group of bikers who raised £700 towards its community appeal.

The Wolfruna Chapter is an official chapter of the Harley Owners’ Group (HOG) and has been going strong for 26 years.

It consists of a group of Harley owners that love getting together for a ride or even just a cuppa and a chat. Throughout the year they organise ride outs, attend events and rallies all over the UK and worldwide and put on charity events.

Following the group’s attendance at the launch of Well Wishers Stroke Rehabilitation garden appeal based at Hollybank House; they held a Grease-themed night in September to help raise funds.

The fun-filled family evening took place at Gilberts Bar in Willenhall and had a dress code of ‘in the pink’.

The charity appeal, which is a £20,000 project, aims to transform the grounds to include a potting area, sensory spot and seating area for stroke rehabilitation patients, their visitors and staff to use.

Members of the Wolfruna Chapter including Director Paul Brothwood, John Baggott, Stella Ashfield and Mel Warrington, came to Walsall Manor Hospital (all on their Harleys!) to hand over their cheque to the Trust’s Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley.

Paul said: “Our Grease-themed night was a sell-out. We had around 150 people come and support. They had a go in our auctions and raffles throughout the night. It was exceptional to see everyone come together and help us raise money for the stroke rehab unit garden which needs a bit of spruce up.

“It feels great to have raised £700. We feel honoured and it is a privilege for us. We want to also thank the Willenhall community and general public as we wouldn’t have raised as much as we did without them.”

Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley added: “A massive thank you to The Wolfruna Chapter. It’s so great seeing community support and this group always goes out of its way to help us. To have raised £700 towards our appeal is amazing and thank you to everyone who attended the event, it really was a good night. The beneficial impact the garden will have on our patients once complete is incredible.”

Carrying on with their good work the group also helps Well Wishers deliver presents to the Children’s Ward in the run up to Christmas and will be doing so on 3 December this year.
