New tables and chairs have been bought for a ward to enhance patients’ safety thanks to Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.
The five tables and chairs, costing just over £600, are being used by staff on Ward 1 at Walsall Manor Hospital to complete their paperwork and to interact with and observe patients.
They are foldable and wipeable and staff have said they will help also reduce the risk of falls as nurses will be able to be in the bay at all times.
Hayley Clemson, Ward Clerk, said: “It is great to receive these new chairs thanks to Well Wishers. We are very grateful to the charity.
“It will really help with enhancing patient care as previously staff would have to complete their paperwork outside of the bays but now they can do it by the patients.
“We have a lot of patients with dementia on our ward who are prone to falls so having staff stationed in each bay is great.”
The money for the tables and chairs came from donations made in the fundraising hub which is in the main atrium of the Manor Hospital and sells books, jigsaws and knitted baby clothes.
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, said: “Ever wondered where the money raised from the sale of books, jigsaws, knitted items etc in the Fundraising Hub goes? Well here is a prime example of how your support can enhance the experience of patients in our care.”
