She could practically rub shoulders with Prince Charles and was captivated by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, not to mention in awe of the stunning light show – It’s fair to say the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday proved a day to remember for Liz Slevin.

Liz, Acute Care Transformational Lead Nurse with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, was able to attend thanks to the Trust’s Well Wishers charity which was allocated a pair of tickets through NHS Charities Together. Liz was the lucky winner in a draw run through a staff facebook page.

And she certainly had the experience of a lifetime.

“It was an amazing day and when you’re actually there you don’t necessarily appreciate the sheer number of people who were packed into the area outside Buckingham Palace and beyond,” said Liz, who enjoyed the special day with her husband Michael.

“We were near the front and within touching distance of Prince Charles. But it was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three children that turned out to be my absolute favourites over the weekend. I just found them captivating.

“My husband is a massive fan of all music so he loved it but for me, the light show with all the images projected on to Buckingham palace was stunning and probably my highlight.

“There was a great atmosphere; we were all there to celebrate and enjoy ourselves and appreciate the Queen’s incredible contribution and everyone was in such a great mood. I’m thrilled that I was able to be part of it all!”
