Walsall’s Saddlers Vaccination Centre welcomed visitors on Friday (1 April), after relocating to Bridgeman Street in the town centre – just a short walk from its previous base inside Saddlers Shopping Centre.

Visitors with an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccine, whether it be their first, second, or booster dose, received a warm welcome, from the team who proudly opened the doors to the service’s new home.

Emma Hughes, Professional Lead for the centre, said: “The whole team are really excited to be working in a new way at our re-located site. It’s brilliant to now have a purpose-built centre, so that we can continue to offer these important vaccines to our communities, and offer people the very best experience we can.

“At the moment, we are working on our spring booster campaign – which means that everyone over 75 who have been contacted to make an appointment, and those who are immunosuppressed or immunocompromised and over the age of 12, can book through the national booking system and come along for their vaccines. There are walk-in appointments being offered too – however these are limited, and we would recommend attending from lunchtime onwards for maximum availability. During busy periods, walk-in appointments may not be possible, so we would recommend booking in advance.

“Additionally, we are offering overseas vaccines. These are by appointment only and can be booked through the national booking system.

“As national guidance changes, we will be able to offer more vaccines to further eligible groups – so please look out for updates on this.”

Emma added: “We are looking forward to welcoming more visitors to the centre in the coming weeks and months, and would like to stress that the vaccines are still vital to slowing the spread of the virus and protecting each other. Please do come along and see us; whether it’s for a booster or the start of your vaccine journey.”

The vaccination centre is located in the former Walsall Urgent Care Centre building, next to the car park entrance for Saddlers Shopping Centre. Appointments are available between 10am and 6pm, seven days a week, via the national booking system.
