Walsall Football Club players George Miller and Kieran Phillips have joined the call for people to have their COVID-19 vaccinations.

Both loan players are double jabbed and are waiting to receive their boosters, and with new cases now climbing daily, the pair believe others should do the same.

Striker George, 23, who is on loan from Championship club Barnsley, said: “I’d recommend anyone to get it done because anything you can do to protect yourself that will help you in the long term, you should do.

“It’s not going to harm you, and it will hopefully it prevent anything unnecessary happening to you.

Kieran 21, who is on loan from Championship club Huddersfield Town, added: “It’s massive (to get jabbed). It’s got to be a community effort to receive the vaccine. The more people that get jabbed, the less the effect of the virus will be on people.

“I’m double jabbed and am waiting for my booster, so hopefully the virus won’t affect me in the way it could affect non jabbed people.

“It’s about protecting the people who are most vulnerable.”

If you’re aged 16 or over, you can now get your COVID-19 vaccine.  Those aged 16 and over can book an appointment at the Saddlers Vaccination Centre on the NHS website. If you cannot book online, you can phone 119.

The Vaccination Centre located in Walsall’s Saddlers Shopping Centre is open for booked and walk-in appointments for eligible groups.

Walsall’s Saddlers Vaccination Centre is extending its opening hours over the Christmas period to give people even more opportunities to take up their COVID-19 jabs.

The centre will open from 7.30am until 10pm from today until this Thursday, 23 December. On Christmas Eve it will open from 7.30am until 8pm.

It will be closed all day on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and will open up again between 7.30am and 10pm daily from Monday 27 December to Thursday 30 December. New Year’s Eve’s opening hours will be 7.30am until 8pm.

The centre will start 2022 by opening 7.30am until 8pm on New Year’s Day and Sunday 2 January and will be open from 7.30am until 10pm on Bank Holiday Monday 3 January.
