Patients will be able to tune into their favourite soaps, quiz shows or documentaries thanks to a host of new televisions funded by Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.

Well Wishers has bought TVs for the bays in Wards 9 and 10 at Walsall Manor Hospital thanks to generous donations.

These wards have also been refurbished to improve patient and staff experience.

These simple home comforts can have a significant impact on a patient’s wellbeing, pain management and recovery rate.

They are also boredom busters at a time when patients are away from their friends and family for long periods and are without the distractions of their regular routines.

Divisional Director of Estates and Facilities at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Jane Longden, said: “It’s been amazing to have this support from Well Wishers for TVs to go inside our newly refurbished wards. This is a great option to increase patient satisfaction whilst receiving treatment with us.”

Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley added: “Because of all the donations we receive from the public we were able to support with the funding of TV’ on these two wards. Well Wishers is all about going above and beyond what the NHS can provide and giving that little bit extra to our patients.”
