Plaster Room/Fracture Clinic Orthopaedic Technician Paul Foster who is already a keen runner and Well Wishers charity supporter is taking part in this year’s London Marathon.

For the first time in its history, the Virgin Money London Marathon will take place in October. It was announced back in March that due to the Covid-19 pandemic the race date would be postponed from Sunday 26 April to Sunday 3 October.

When asked why he was doing the fundraiser, father-of-three Paul said:

“I will be fundraising for Well Wishers as it is for a good cause and I know all the money raised will go back into the hospital and community so it will definitely help to make a difference”.

Paul has been training hard and explained:

“Training has been good except for when I tore my hamstring, that has made it a bit difficult, but I’m pushing through and it’s going well”.

The 42-year-old said: “I am most nervous about if my legs will get me round as it’s not an easy thing to do! I am very excited about going to London to take part as earlier in the year I did the virtual marathon on my own in Walsall so I’m looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere and crowd participation again.”

Paul’s three children (Brandon – 15, Freddie – 13, Oliver – 12) will be cheering their dad on and all said they were “very proud of him”.

All of us here at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and Well Wishers charity wish Paul the best of luck for his fundraiser.
