Today sees the launch of Well Wishers charity’s annual Craft Christmas appeal to support young patients on Walsall Manor Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

Well Wishers, which is Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s charity,  makes a seasonal plea for donations of craft materials such as colouring books, glitter, ribbons, paper, card and pens to help take young patients’ minds off their illnesses and treatment if they’re in hospital in the run up to Christmas.

Georgie Westley, Walsall Healthcare Fundraising Manager, said: “This appeal is now in its fourth year and it gives us a way of engaging with some of our older children who might not want to play with toys and games but enjoy getting creative.

“Being in hospital in the run up to Christmas must be really difficult for our young patients, even more so during this pandemic,  so this is something we can do to help take their minds off things as they recover, ready to go home.”

To donate items for a Crafty Christmas please contact Georgie on 01922 656643 so she can arrange to receive items outside the main entrance of the hospital and we can observe social distancing, staying safe and minimising the risk of Covid-19 spread.
