Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust will be implementing a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system this weekend as part of its exciting digital transformation journey.

EPR is the collection of patient medical information containing both clinical and administrative data, which is accurately, electronically stored. It is one of the trust’s key priorities as it works towards a more effective and efficient NHS, bringing benefits to both staff and patients.

Daren Fradgley is Walsall Healthcare’s Executive Lead for Digital Services and he is looking forward to this hugely important milestone.

“This weekend is the culmination of so much hard work, commitment and passion for a transformation that will have a huge impact on all of our clinicians across the healthcare economy as it will provide essential information to support them in providing safer, more efficient clinical decisions at the point of care,” he said.

“We have engaged with so many staff in the lead up to the implementation as we needed them to tell us how we could improve our systems and processes.
“Our staff were actively involved in the early stages to ensure we have built a system we all support; that is right for staff and ultimately for the care of our patients.

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards EPR and also ask patients to bear with us for the next couple of weeks as they may experience some short delays as staff get used to this new way of working. We thank them for their patience.”
