For patients missing the comfort of their living room while in Walsall Manor Hospital Ward 1 has come up with a homely solution.

Ward Manager Julie Woods approached Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s charity Well Wishers to see if it would fund an idea staff had put forward.

They wanted to create a family/relative/patient room with privacy and comfort in mind. The room would allow staff to provide test results, patients could have some quiet time and even the possibility of a relative staying over if required (pre-covid) plus lots more beneficial uses.

Money raised through the Purple Hub by selling things like books, cards and puzzles  allowed Well Wishers to support this idea and purchase two tub chairs and a lovely sofa bed for the room.

Staff Nurse Sheila Pitt said: “It’s a really lovely, homely and comforting place. It’s a special time for families to come together and relax”.

Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley added: “To know that funds made from Well Wishers charity can provide items and spaces that will benefit so many patients and families is amazing. It just goes to show every pound matters and makes a difference.”
