Useful tips, videos and information will be available at the fingertips of Walsall mums and mums-to-be thanks to Flo – a new support service that has been launched.

This friendly and reassuring text messaging service is to help women both before their baby is born as well as when the baby arrives and offers information around relationship building, feeding and safer sleep.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Specialist Infant Feeding Midwife, Hazel Brookes, said: “We are so happy to be able to offer Walsall women this new service which is easy to sign up to and is free of charge.

“Flo will support women from 28 weeks of pregnancy until their baby arrives, when baby does arrive mums simply text “Birthday” within five days of their arrival along with baby’s date of birth and the information they receive will be tailored towards new mum support.

“We see this as an additional way to communicate with mums who can also text “HELP” to Flo if they need more help with feeding and they will be sent details of how to contact a Specialist Infant feeding Midwife. This new service isn’t meant to replace the support that our Infant Feeding Team provides and we want to assure women that this is still available for them. But we also know that the tips and videos that Flo sends will be of real benefit at what is such an important time for new mums and parents alike.”
