We just cor wait for the “Queen of the Black Country” Doreen Tipton to switch on our Christmas lights this Friday 6 December!

Doreen, who is an internet, stage, and film star, as well as the author of children’s book The Giant Panteater and other Curious Creatures, will be doing the honours from 3pm. The star will also be in the main atrium from 1.30pm on that day signing copies of her book.

Doreen said: “The hospital will look bostin’ this yuletide and I hope I can blag a mince pie and a hot chocolate as the VIP guest.”

The lights switch-on will launch the first of three Festive Friday events in the hospital. Visitors can enjoy a seasonal craft and gifts fair from 10am and choirs and singers will perform through the day. The event will close just before 4pm with a Chaplaincy blessing and carols.
