Maternity event – arriving on Sunday!

2025-09-30T08:58:49+01:00Tuesday 30 September 2025|

With a wealth of health information, live music, market stalls and a children’s entertainer, new mums, mums to be and their families are invited to a special event in Walsall this weekend.

The Maternity Engagement Event is being held at Pelsall Community and Arts Centre in Station Road, Pelsall, from 12noon until 3pm on Sunday 5 October.

Organised by Tracy Denmade, Patient Experience Midwife at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, and funded by its Well Wishers charity, the session aims to give people the opportunity to meet Midwives, chat about topics such as diabetes and mental health and find out about the support available as well as enjoy a free, family friendly afternoon.

Local band “The Buzz” will be playing live and visitors can look at market stalls, enjoy entertainment from Ruby Doo and be treated a special visit from Well Wishers’ Humphrey Bear.

Laura Parsons, Matron, said: “This is a great opportunity to come and find out more about Maternity Services offered in Walsall as well as see how mums and mums to be can get more involved in giving feedback to help us shape our services.

“Our Walsall Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) will be there – this is a friendly group that gives service users the chance to share their experience in a safe space so we can all work together on ideas and suggestions to make improvements. And there will be lots of useful information available around home births, our Midwifery-Led Unit and digital innovation to name just a few examples.

“There’s also going to be plenty to keep little ones amused so we look forward to seeing you there.”

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager at the Trust, added: “Humphrey Bear is getting really excited as he’s heard there’s going to be cake and ice cream too! He loves meeting our families and helping us explain the different ways our charity has boosted Maternity Services in Walsall.”
