Patients, their families and carers will be able to nominate a staff member or team within Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust for an award that recognises outstanding personalised care and compassion.
Every year the Trust runs an internal staff recognition awards event where colleagues can highlight innovation, improvements within teams and services, and staff who exemplify the behaviours outlined in the organisation’s Behavioural Framework – Kind, Listening, Inclusive and Professional.
This year’s Caring for All Awards includes the Sister Dora Award category, which is now open to the public.
Dorothy Pattison, better known as Sister Dora, is often referred to as Walsall’s very own Florence Nightingale for her dedication to nursing thousands of patients at two hospitals in the town.
Her legacy has gone on to influence healthcare locally as well as inspire new generations.
Nominations for this award should highlight an inspirational individual or team that consistently make a difference – going above and beyond to ensure quality care and positive experiences – in Walsall Manor Hospital or its Community Services.
Alan Duffell, Group Chief People Officer for the Trust, said: “The annual awards afford us a great opportunity to honour the dedication of our staff who make a huge difference to the lives of patients, as well as supporting their colleagues.
“Every single person is working hard to improve the health and wellbeing of communities across Walsall and further afield – whether they’re in a clinical role or support service. It’s so important that we recognise their efforts.
“So please, if you can, take a few minutes to let us know how someone has positively impacted you and/or your loved ones.”
All nominations should be submitted before 10pm on Friday 15 August 2025.
Posters will be on display around the Trust sites with QR codes and instructions on how to submit a paper copy.
The winner will be announced at an event later this year.
