A total of 300 packs have been bought for Medical and Physician Associate students, by the Trust’s Well Wishers charity, to be given out as part of their induction days at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The packs contain:
• A sachet of tea and coffee
• A pack of tissues
• A notebook and pen
• A snack bar and a pack of biscuits
They also contain a pocket book of numbers and a small map of the hospital’s Manor Learning and Conferencing Centre to help them navigate the student areas on the third floor.
Hannah Dibble, Deputy Academy Manager for the Undergraduate Medical Education Team, said: “It is the third time we have done the packs and Well Wishers are very kind in supporting us with them.
“They really lift the students and when we hand them out on induction day it engages them more.
“It makes Walsall stand out and, regardless of how long their placements are with us, it makes a huge impression on them.
“Some students have come back as qualified Doctors and mentioned how much the packs made a difference in that first week and they used all the products in the packs swiftly.”
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, said: “It’s great that the charity can be involved in welcoming students to the Trust. We all remember our first day and how daunting it can be. It also helps publicise the charity and encourages our students to get involved in some of our fun events whilst they are with us and hopefully choose us as their place to work when they qualify.”
