Joining forces to drive improvements

2023-12-04T07:05:34+00:00Monday 4 December 2023|

Women and families who have used Maternity and Neonatal Services and want to help drive improvements are being invited to join healthcare professionals at a Black Country event in the New Year.

Plans to address perinatal mortality and morbidity will come under the spotlight at The Black Country Local Maternity and Neonatal System (BCLMNS) Clinical Summit being held on 16 January 2024. This event has been rescheduled from October this year.

The summit will bring together Maternity and Neonatal staff from across the four Black Country Trusts – Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, as well as services associated with Maternity and Neonatal and is being held between 9.30am and 4.30pm at West Bromwich Albion’s The Hawthorns ground.

Helen Hurst, BCLMNS Clinical Director of Midwifery, said: “The voices and experiences of our service users are so important to us as we want to make the most of any opportunities we have to work with them on our areas of focus.

“Please don’t be put off by the fact this event is a clinical summit – all the discussions on the day will be designed for everyone to absorb, not just medical professionals. We want to make sure that the people who use our services understand any changes that might be made as well as work with us to influence and drive change themselves for the benefit of all our communities across the Black Country.”

As part of the Clinical Summit, the BCLMNS will also be recognising and celebrating the excellent work of its Maternity and Neonatal professionals and associated organisations.

There are many working tirelessly to provide services that help women and birthing people to navigate their pregnancy journey and beyond and the BCLMNS would like to recognise the positive impact they have.
