Heart of Parvati

Described as having “a heart of gold with a love for children and charity,” a caring mother and grandmother has continued to help others after her death.

Jasoda Ishverbhai Patel (known as Parvatiben) passed away unexpectedly on 8 June 2022 aged 69.

Originally from India, she came over to the UK to build her life and family. She leaves behind four children and four grandchildren.

Her family wanted to do something in her memory that would benefit children who were admitted to hospital, so they put a donation of £600, plus GiftAid, towards a new playroom being created on the Children’s Ward supported by Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.

On behalf of the family, Parvatiben’s daughter Mina said: “Our mum was such a kind, caring, loving and generous lady with a love for children and charity who always put others first and gave back to the community.

“She continuously supported and donated to Well Wishers and various other charities whether that be from her own donations or with her local Women’s Prayer Group.

“That’s why we decided to ask family and friends to donate instead of giving flowers when they attended the funeral or came to pay their respects.

“We also feel very honoured to have been able to gift £600 as it is what mum would have wanted and she would’ve been so happy knowing her final donation was going towards helping children at Walsall Manor Hospital.

She added: “Mum was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold and is dearly missed by all family, friends, community and those at the temple. She has left an unfillable hole in all our lives but is remembered with a lot of love and fond memories.”

Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager said: “Thank you so much on behalf of the charity for this thoughtful donation. It has benefited so much already from the kindness of Parvati who I knew for a number of years following the support I received from the Women’s Prayer Group she was involved in. She will certainly hold a special place in the charities memories.”
