A borough business has donated £1500 towards Walsall Manor Hospital’s Neonatal Unit to help support parents throughout the duration of their baby’s stay.

Last year, Annette’s Pram Shop based in Blakenall held fundraising raffles and collections to raise money for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Well Wishers charity.

This was set up by owner Annette Owles-Bryan and supported by Sales Assistant Skigh Mason.

As part of the shop’s 25th birthday celebrations, Annette approached Well Wishers Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley asking if there was any particular area she could fundraise for.

Georgie was completely supportive of the fundraiser and suggested raising money for the Neonatal Unit to support the refurbishment of its parents’ accommodation which was outdated and needed to be made more homely.

Annette jumped at the chance and didn’t just stop at her original plan of fundraising during September 2021 but decided to carry on all the way through to the New Year.

Annette said: “Without the support of my suppliers, my assistant Skigh and our customers, many who use the maternity services of Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, we would not have been able to make this amazing amount. I can’t wait to see the finished result.”

Georgie added: “It’s been a pleasure working with Annette and Skigh. The charity is thrilled at the amount raised and congratulates them on their fantastic fundraising efforts.

“It is a difficult time for parents when their baby has to be transferred over to the Neonatal Unit but having an area where they can stay and be comfortable in really does help make a difference. Thank you very much to everyone who has supported Annette’s fundraisers, we are so appreciative.”
