From being a new mum herself in need of breastfeeding support to helping many other mums over the last 4 years – Samantha Thompson has been a fantastic asset to Walsall Healthcare.

And now she’s moving on to start her Nursing Associate training with the trust.

Lindsey Perry, Infant Feeding Clinical Lead/Lactation Consultant (Health Visiting service) has paid tribute to her “passion and commitment.”

She said: “I bet Sam didn’t think when she first came seeking breastfeeding support when her baby was three days old, that it would be the beginning of a whole new journey and career change.

“Having benefitted from the support she received, empowering her to breastfeed her son through some challenges, Sam wanted to help others to do the same. She has been supporting us, the Health Visiting Service Infant Feeding Team, and Walsall families in our feeding support groups for four years.
“She has undertaken infant feeding training and even agreed to become chair of the trust’s Maternity Voices Partnership when I asked her nicely!

“Her passion and commitment is endless and it was clear that this was just the beginning – Sam starts her Nursing Associate training with Walsall Healthcare in March this year.
“We will miss Sam and are grateful, more than words can say, for all her support and dedication. We and the many mums she has supported thank her for everything and we all wish her the best in the next part of her supporting journey.
“Sam you will be a fabulous asset to the nursing world – Good Luck!”
