From 20 September 2019, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust introduced a new parking system that will help to improve parking across the hospital site thanks to automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), new barrier equipment and enhanced signage.

Working in partnership with parking company New Park Solutions, the changes will help to cut down barrier failures, ticket jams and allow flexible payment options by introducing debit/card payments and allowing the purchase of weekly/monthly passes through the new pay machines. The new ANPR system is currently operating in Car Park B and therefore Car Park D (A&E) will remain a ticket-paying option. Disabled parking is available in all.

Car Park B will have ANPR cameras and will also be protected by barriers. To enter this car park, you will need to drive up to the barrier whereby a camera will scan your vehicle registration plate and the barrier will then rise and you will enter the car park as normal. Upon exit, you will need to approach the pay machines to the left of the main entrance and enter your vehicle registration number. You will then be advised of the fee at that point and you are able to pay by cash or debit card to complete this transaction. Please ensure that you have your registration ready as this will create delays for other parties when paying.

If you are dropping off a relative in any of our car parks and exit the car park within 15 minutes, you will not be charged for using the car parks.

The payment machines are located in the following areas:

  • The left of the main entrance upon exit – opposite Car Park B.
  • Outside A&E
  • At the rear of the hospital outside the inpatient entrance.

When you have paid for your car parking, return to your car and drive to the nearest exit. When you get to the barrier, the camera will recognise your number plate and rise. Help buttons are located on all entry/exit barriers and payment machines.

Disabled parking

Blue badge holder parking is fee-paying on the hospital site. Dedicated disabled parking areas are located:

  • At the rear of the hospital outside the inpatient entrance
  • Outside A&E
  • Car Park B

Please take care when using the roads around the hospital. Be mindful of people crossing the roads at zebra crossings around the site. The speed limit around the hospital is 10mph.
