Mum’s hopes for son’s boyband success

A Walsall Healthcare worker is looking forward to seeing her singer/songwriter son take centre stage on Simon Cowell’s new Netflix docuseries The Next Act, which airs tonight (Wednesday 10 December).

The show will focus on the music mogul and record executive’s efforts to create the next global boyband sensation.

And proud mum Zoe Christoffersen, whose son Hendrik, 19,  is among the hopefuls taking part, can’t wait to watch the highs and the lows unfold over tonight’s six episodes.

“They filmed in our home for some of the footage, but I’m obviously sworn to secrecy over what happens to Hendrik,” explained Zoe, a Family and Carers’ Support Officer at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Zoe, a mum of three,  was a professional vocalist herself for several years so Hendrik, who works in Nandos, has obviously inherited musical genes.

“The show follows the singers’ experiences in Miami where they work with Simon Cowell’s team as he’s looking to replicate the success of other famous boy bands such as One Direction,” she said. “It’s certainly a chance in a lifetime for all those taking part and I’ll be glued to the screen watching Hendrik’s progress.”

The Next Act will feature open casting calls and follow performers’ progress up to the release of the band’s debut single and has been described as “an all-access pass for viewers to catch every moment of Simon’s next chapter. Will he strike gold once again?”
