Visitors to Walsall Manor Hospital will be sure of a bright reception thanks to volunteers who have planted a new flower bed at the hospital’s entrance.
Volunteers from the Walsall Arboretum User Group (WAUG) and Asda St Matthews joined together to help plant the Well Wishers charity logo last week.
The logo, featuring the charity’s wishing well, has become a much-loved sight near to the main entrance of the hospital and also helps to promote fundraising.
Fiona Macmillan, Treasurer of the WAUG, said: “We were approached by Martin Bateman, Community Champion at Asda, as the supermarket is a huge supporter of our group, to see if we would like to help with this display.
“Four of us came down to help, and we love doing this sort of thing around Walsall. It really is great fun for us.”
Martin, Community Champion at Asda St Matthews, said: “I really love getting out in the community, it’s my job and I enjoy trying to make a difference in Walsall.
“We were happy to fund the plants with the support of the Hollybush Garden Centre and to work with WAUG to make this happen.”
Georgie Westley, Fundraising Manager, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved especially the volunteers for their efforts in creating the flower-bed which has a prominent spot at the front of the hospital for all to enjoy, and also the staff at the Garden Centre who give us an amazing deal on the plants”
