Community Continence

Community Continence is a nurse-led service offering holistic assessment, advice, treatment and management of bladder, bowel and continence related issues.

The service serves clients of all ages, both male and female, within the borough who are registered to a Walsall GP.  This service is provided within primary care clinics, the client’s own home (if housebound), and also within residential care and nursing homes settings.

The service also develops and provide training to health care professionals on topics relating to bladder, bowel and continence issues including urinary catheterisation.

Also developed are policies, protocols and procedures in relation to this area of care to support and ensure best practice and high-quality care for clients.

A home delivery service is managed for the provision of containment aids to clients who have been assessed and require ongoing management as part of their care.
