Clinical Intervention Team

The Clinical Intervention team provide an OPAT IV / DVT service in a community setting.

OPAT or “Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy” involves the administering of antibiotics to fight against infections caused by bacteria such as cellulitis, chest infections and osteomyelitis. When antibiotics are injected, it is called intravenous (IV) or parenteral therapy.

DVT or “Deep Vein Thrombosis” is also assessed, diagnosed and treated in the community by the team.

The service operates between 8.30am – 9pm, 7 days a week.
