Preceptorship

Preceptorship is a structured period of transition for the newly qualified nurse, nursing associate, midwife or allied health professional when they start employment in the NHS. It is recognised that where preceptorship is well embedded as part of the organisational culture, there are significant benefits for newly qualified staff, teams, patients and the organisation itself.

At Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust we want you to shape your own Preceptorship Programme to allow you to build a bespoke programme to suit your learning needs. Within the Professional Development Brochure you will see courses that are marked with a “P” denoting those that are applicable to new registrants during their Preceptorship period. Each new registrant should attend at least 6 of these modules within their first year in post.

“It’s a development programme designed FOR you BY you!”
