The Research and Development department assists researchers in undertaking high quality, ethically sound research that is beneficial to patient care, treatment and rehabilitation.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network: West Midlands. The research network is based at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust under the clinical directorship of Dr Jeremy Kirk.

The majority of research undertaken within the Trust is ‘NIHR portfolio’ research. These are large, often national studies in which Walsall is one of many Trusts taking part in the project.

You can learn more about our current research studies within this section.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
