The 23-year-old joined the sexual health service in 2015 after qualifying as a nurse and has been loving it ever since.
“My colleagues are fantastic – we all work together to ensure that we can provide you with the best treatment.”
Sally Tennant, who is based at both the main hub on Pleck Road (opposite the Manor Hospital) and the Navigation Street clinic, accepts both appointments and walk ins – acting as the first point of contact if you have any concerns.
“It’s a calming environment on Navigation Street as it doesn’t have that hospital feel. Plus it’s discreetly placed just a walk down from the main site so you needn’t worry about being seen using the service.”
As a nurse, Sally can help you with contraception, STI’s and support you with any concerns you may have regarding sex and relationships.
“I have been faced with all varieties of concerns – so nothing will shock me.
“Some people can feel embarrassed but there really is no reason to be - it’s our job to make people feel comfortable and ultimately we’re here to help you. I’m a chatty person and I like to think I’ll be able to put you at ease.”
If you are unable to attend the clinic, Sally recommends ordering a postal kit via the website.
“Testing is so important - otherwise you’re putting yourself and other people at risk.
“The postal kits are really discreet – they haven’t got ‘STI TEST’ written all over the box; it just means you can get tested without having to leave the comfort of your home! It's really easy.”
