Maternity Services

The Maternity services here at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust offer comprehensive maternity and neonatal care for women and their families. Services include:

  • Routine community midwifery based antenatal care
  • Inpatient antenatal facilities and high risk and specialist Antenatal Clinics (HIV, diabetes and endocrine and epilepsy) 
  • Labour and delivery facilities, including home birth, water birth, alternative positioning equipment and access to an epidural service
  • Triage Unit providing 24hour access to a midwife and/or obstetrician for minor ailments of pregnancy.

 

The Maternity service sees and cares for patients with:

  • Complications in early pregnancy
  • Complications in pregnancy
  • Fetal abnormality
  • High risk labours
  • Low risk labours
  • Premature babies
  • Sick babies
  • Termination of pregnancy
  • Term healthy babies
  • Vulnerable women
  • Women with medical complications

Hours of Operation 

This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Service Locations

The Maternity Unit is located in the hospital on route 128. We also have a specialist Midwifery Led Unit providing you with more choice on where to have your baby.
