Your GP needs to conduct a small number of quick checks to confirm your hearing loss is age-related. They will then refer you to the Audiology Service. If your hearing loss is not due to the ageing process ie. a referral to an ENT (Ear Nose & Throat) Consultant is necessary.
You will receive an appointment to attend one of the Audiology Service locations below
- Blackwood Health Centre, Sutton Coldfield
- Walsall Manor Hospital Audiology Department
- Park View Medical Centre, Brownhills
- Darlaston Health Centre, Darlaston
- Pinfold Health Centre, Bloxwich
Your ears will be examined by your Audiologist and your hearing will be thoroughly assessed and if it is found that hearing aids would be beneficial these will be arranged for you. This may involve taking an impression of your ears to make an ear mould. A few weeks later you will be fitted with hearing aids and given instruction on their use. You are not for the aids. The batteries are also provided free of charge.
In some cases your Audiologist may recommend a referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant as well as or before arranging hearing aids.
We will then write back to your GP to inform them of the outcome of your appointment.
