Prostate and Ovarian Cancer GP Symposium 23/03/2016

As part of Prostate and Ovarian Cancer Month, March's symposium focused on the GP's role in managing Prostate and Ovarian Cancer. Thank you to all who attended. Respiratory GP Evening Symposium 25/11/2015

Dr Max Matonhodze, Consultant Physician led the November symposium, focusing on the topic Respiratory. Titled 'Delivering best outcomes for Asthma patients in Walsall through partnership between Primary Care, Accident and Emergency and Secondary Care', the symposium focused on the National Report on Asthma Death (NRAD) 2014. Microbiology GP Evening Symposium 28/10/2015

On Wednesday 28th October, Dr Stephen Jones, Consultant Microbiologist led a well attended talk focusing on Microbiology. The topics discussed were C.Difficile Management and Top 5 Waste of Antibiotics. Thank you to all who attended. 


Cardiology GP Evening Symposium 30/09/2015

Thank you to all who attended the Cardiology Focused GP Evening Symposium on Wednesday 30 September. Consultant Cardiologists Dr Rumi Jaumdally and Dr Ali Hamaad gave two interactive presentations on Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation and ECG Interpretation. Dermatology GP Evening Symposium 29/07/2015

Our Dermatology symposium was well attended and feedback has been very good. Thank you to all who attended. Consultant Dermatologists, Dr James Halpern and Dr Clare Defty gave two interesting talks on Eczema and Skin Cancer. 


Gynaecology GP Evening Symposium 27/05/2015

Thank you to those who attended the Gynaecology GP Symposium on Wednesday 27 May. This was the first of a trial of GP evening symposiums over the next six months. The event was opened by Mr Amir Khan, Medical Director who talked about the Trust's plan for our Year of Improvement and answered a number of questions. Mrs Ragini Reddy and Mr Tony Thomas, both Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology then delivered talks on Post-Menopausal women and Chronic Pelvic Pain.

Macmillan Cancer Update Evening 14/04/2015

A large number of GPs and Practice staff attended the Macmillan Cancer Update evening held on Tuesday 14 April. The event was led by Macmillan GP Facilitator Dr Joo Ee Teoh. Dr Teoh was joined by Dr A Hughes, Consultant Gastroenterologist  and Dr V Tandon, Consultant Haematologist. Both talked about the new 2WW referral forms and provoked interesting discussion. Ophthalmology GP Symposium 25/03/2015

Thank you to all who attended the Ophthalmology Update GP Symposium on Wednesday 25 March, led by Mr Ajay Bhatnagar, Consultant Ophthalmologist at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and Clinical Director at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. The talk focused on acute eye problems and treatment/referral guidance for common eye conditions.
