Freedom of information

The Freedom of Information Act gives you the right to obtain information held by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust unless there are good reasons to keep it confidential.

The Act does not alter the right of patients to maintain their confidentiality in accordance with Article 8 of the Human Rights Convention, the Data Protection Act and common law. Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is wholly committed to maintaining this legal right.

To assist with this process the Trust has appointed a ‘Caldicott Guardian’, who has a responsibility to ensure the protection of patient confidentiality throughout the Trust is maintained in accordance with their legal rights. Our Caldicott Guardian is the Trust’s Medical Director who can be contacted via the address located on this page.

Disclosure log and publication scheme

The Trust receives regular requests for information in relation to a variety of subjects. Information that has been released in relation to these subjects can be found within the disclosure log. The log is updated every six months. Please select the relevant document to access the information required.

Information is only released under the Freedom of Information Act and made available in the disclosure log if it cannot already be found within the Trust’s publication scheme.

Charging regimes and copyright

The majority of information provided by the Trust is available free of charge, however we reserve the right to apply charges as necessary. We will however always inform applicants of any charges that may apply to their request. Contact us for further details of our charging regime.

Information management

Information required for business purposes will be retained in line with the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s retention and disposal schedules which comply with circular HSC1999/53 and Public Record Office guidance.

Information not required for the business purposes of the Trust is stored at the Trust or at a place of deposit approved by the Lord Chancellor for the purpose of holding public records.

Data protection statement

The information you provide us for your information request will only be used for processing and monitoring purposes to ensure Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust complies with the Freedom of  Information Act.

Where a request is made via a third party, agency or organisation to obtain information, the Trust cannot be held responsible for how those people or companies use or store the requester’s details.

Copies of all responses released by our organisation are published on a quarterly basis within a disclosure log.
