Endoscopy

What we do

The Endoscopy department offers both a diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopy service including upper and lower gastrointestinal Endoscopy as well as Capsule Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy and Therapeutic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography.

We are primarily a Monday to Friday service treating Outpatients, Inpatients and direct access from GP referrals. We operate an out of hours emergency service 365 days a year for Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeds.

The new facility at Walsall currently operates three procedure rooms and we have invested in the latest full high definition camera systems from Olympus. 

The unit has six full time Consultant Gastroenterologists and three nurse endoscopists, lists are also performed by Consultant Surgeons and Respiratory Consultants.

Hours of Operation

Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 5:00pm 

Out of Hours On-Call: Monday to Friday 5:00pm - 9:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am - 9:00pm

How to access the service/Referral contact information:

Referral for Endoscopy is via GP initially who can refer directly for several endoscopic procedures or will refer to Consultant Gastroenterologist/Surgeon in Outpatients who will then refer onwards to Endoscopy if appropriate.
