Christmas donation to maternity bereavement boxes

A big thank you to Emma and Mark Price who have kindly donated ten key rings for Walsall Healthcare’s bereavement boxes.

“These boxes are designed to help bereaved parents; especially over the Christmas period to feel closer to their babies who have not made it home” explained midwife Emma Rawling.

18 months ago, Emma and Mark were expecting twins, but sadly experienced twin to twin transfusion – an imbalance in the blood vessels where one baby is getting more blood than the other, causing the other baby to become increasingly weaker.
Following a procedure to save both babies, the parents had the devastating news that Elijah had not survived, however the pregnancy continued and Oliver was born – now a very happy and feisty little boy.

“This donation proves that even throughout the hardest of times, the support and generosity of our patients is outstanding” said midwife, Emma.

Both parents thanked all staff on maternity and neonatal for the fantastic care and support they had received.

If you would like to make a donation to our bereavement boxes, please get in touch with bereavement midwife Laura Atikinson via Delivery Suite.
