From a fun run to a bag pack with boxing, walking, performing and shopping thrown in – 2018 is set to be another busy year of events for Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity.
Fundraising Manager Georgie Westley said: “We’ve got all sorts of things lined up over the coming months so make sure you get the dates in your diaries and support us to raise money for items above and beyond what the NHS can provide.”
The charity’s first big event is a fashion show which is taking place on Sunday 4 March at Baron’s Court Hotel in Walsall Wood which has generously provided the venue free of charge. Well Wishers has once again teamed up with SOS Charity Fashion Shows for the event. Doors open at 2pm and the catwalk will come to life at 2.30pm. We also have some fantastic raffle prizes up for grabs including aromatherapy massage, heaven facial, gift sets and more ….
And Baron’s Court has kindly offered anyone attending the event 10% off a Sunday lunch. To book email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting Well Wishers Fashion Show. Sunday lunch is served from 12.30pm-2.30-pm.
Proceeds will boost funds for a £15,000 appeal to update a sensory room and replace worn out, old-fashioned and broken equipment at the Trust’s Child Development Centre in Shelfield. The appeal was launched last September and since then, working with Well Wishers, fundraisers have been busy running, cycling, baking and donating to help it past the halfway mark. The total currently stands at £8,710.21.
Staff and parents from the centre are doing a charity bag pack at Morrisons in Willenhall on Monday 5 March between 10am and 2pm.
On 5 April an Easter Market will run from 10am until 4pm in the main atrium of Walsall Manor Hospital.
Friday 11 May sees the return of the popular Boxing Match, jointly organised with Walsall IBF Super Lightweight Champion Martin Gethin, a patron of Well Wishers. This will take place at Rushall Labour Club which has once again offered the venue free of charge to the charity.
On 31 May a Spring Market will be in full swing in the hospital’s main atrium from 10am-4pm.
On 3 June Well Wishers fundraisers will take part in Walsall’s first walking festival which starts and finishes at Walsall Arboretum. Some of the money raised through this event will go towards the palliative care services that support borough patients in their own homes or at Fair Oaks Day Hospice at Walsall Palliative Care Centre.
Throughout July, Well Wishers will be supporting events that celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS.
On 2 August, the hospital’s main atrium will be buzzing from 10am-4pm with a Summer Fair.
In September, Walsall Healthcare staff will be putting on their trainers to take part in the Walsall Rotary Club Fun Run and polishing their dance moves and vocals for Trust’s Got Talent. The fun run is on 23 September and Trust’s Got Talent on 27 September.
Make a Will Fortnight will return, in partnership with Enoch Evans LLP, between 1 and 12 October and on 26 October an Autumn Fair will be held from 10am-2pm in the hospital’s main atrium.
Festive Fridays will get everyone in seasonal good spirits on 7 and 14 December with markets, carol performances and the Christmas lights switch on. And finally, between 17 and 21 December Well Wishers will work with staff throughout the hospital and community to stage “Make Someone Smile Week.”
Georgie added: “People were really supportive of Well Wishers last year and we want 2018 to be even bigger and better. We’re looking for boxers to get into the ring on 11 May and are always happy to help people who want to put on their own event or come up with their own fundraising ideas. Just pop into the Purple Hub on Route 003 at the Manor Hospital and speak to our fundraising team. If you are a local business and you would like to sponsor an event or provide raffle prizes please get in touch. We do rely on the goodwill of businesses to be able to put these super events on and return we are happy to promote them through social media to our staff and the public.
