Key roles on Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Board 

People who are passionate about healthcare services and want to make a positive difference to the lives of people in the borough’s communities are being sought for key roles on Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Board.

The Trust currently has a vacancy for a Non-Executive Director and an Associate Non-Executive Director

Danielle Oum, Trust Chair, said: “We’re proud of the significant improvement our Trust has made over the last couple of years, as recognised in our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection. But we are certainly not resting on our laurels and need to keep up momentum as we continue our improvement journey.

Happy 70th birthday NHS – from #WalsallandProud staff 

Staff who work behind the scenes at Walsall Manor Hospital and in its community services are sending their own special birthday wishes to the NHS as it celebrates its 70th birthday this summer.

From Thursday 26 April – exactly 70 days before the big day on 5 July – a different member of staff will be featured on a birthday card designed by the Trust to use via its social media channels.

Championing children’s voices – the School Nursing way 

Walsall’s School Nursing Service is top of the class when it comes to giving children a voice. Over the last two years the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust service has developed School Nurse Champions, working with Year 8 and Year 10 pupils in Shire Oak and Grace Academy secondary schools. Innovative stickers see Pharmacy shortlisted for national 'excellence' award 

A big well done to our pharmacy colleagues and their patient focus group who have been recognised for ‘Excellence in Hospital Pharmacy Practice’ as part of the 2018 Clinical Pharmacy Congress Awards.

The Clinical Pharmacy Congress (CPC), who look to celebrate success stories within the pharmacy profession, have shortlisted Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust following its patient involvement in the development of pharmacy services.

Neonatal’s Donna Burns gets ready to run on behalf of Macmillan 

This week sees a final push from Discharge Planning Co-ordinator Donna Burns as she and husband Kevin prepare to run the 2018 London Marathon on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Donna, who has worked for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust since 1998, will hit the ground running on April 22 for the eighth time; raising money for those who have been, and are currently affected by cancer.

Queen’s Nurse Jola meets with royalty ahead of NHS70 

Congratulations to Community Children’s Nursing Team Leader Jola Forys who was among 350 nurses invited last month to Buckingham Palace to celebrate 70 years of the NHS.

The event, which saw Prince Charles acknowledge a variety of frontline nurses, included one of our own attending on behalf of the Queen’s Nursing Institute; awarded the title of ‘Queen’s Nurse’ in 2008, this formally recognised Jola's commitment and passion to delivering high quality care to children in the community.
