“Kind, Caring and Compassionate” - Latest CQC report recognises progress made 

Hard work by teams across Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust to improve services for patients has been recognised in the latest inspection report released by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which shows progress in each service area.

The CQC has rated the Trust as “Requires Improvement” overall, with a rating of “Good” for the caring domain and a rating of “Outstanding” for its community services. There are only a handful of community services in the country with this rating.

Support Services are secret superheroes through cold snap 

Support Services Assistant Rita Nicholls is just one of the few behind-the-scenes colleagues who stepped up to support the Trust during the recent harsh weather.

Rita, who has worked at the hospital for nine years, was only scheduled to work the Sunday of the frosty weekend, however kindly gave up her Saturday (16 Dec) to help ensure the hospital remained clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff

Friends group’ once again supports Well Wishers 

A group of Walsall Hindu ladies have handed over a generous £1356 to Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity after a year of collecting money.

The Sakhi Mandal ‘Friends Group’ has been coming together for more than seven years to meet not only in prayer, but to raise money for those in need; this year, choosing to support Well Wishers to improve care for patients both in hospital and in the community.

People planning to visit Walsall Manor Hospital or care homes in the borough are being urged to stay away if they have experienced sickness and diarrhoea in the previous three days to avoid passing on stomach bugs including norovirus to vulnerable patients and residents.
