Colleagues go the extra mile  

Around 30 colleagues joined the Walsall Rotary Club Fun Run at Walsall Arboretum yesterday (Sunday 24 September 2017) to raise money for the Trust’s Well Wishers charity; completing either a 10k run, 5k run or 3k walk.

Community therapists supporting Walsall people to thrive at home 

Hundreds of Walsall residents are being supported to live safely and independently at home following a hospital stay – or avoid hospital altogether – thanks to a dedicated team of community therapists.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has 25 staff working in Intermediate Care Therapies which includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and  Assistant Practitioners. They help patients who are undergoing bed-based rehabilitation at Hollybank House in Short Heath, as well as through the Trust’s community services such as Rapid Response, Frail Elderly Service, and Rehabilitation at Home.

Scientist & leukemia survivor wants you to join the stem cell donor register 

While Biomedical Scientist Natalie White knows a thing or two about blood, she never in her wildest dreams imagined she herself would need new, healthy blood cells following a leukemia diagnosis in June 2016.

A senior scientist within Walsall Healthcare’s Blood Bank, Natalie was concerned about her symptoms of constant tiredness and infection - particularly when she’d experienced good health for most of her life.

Delight as £20,000 neonatal fundraising target reached 

A £20,000 fundraising appeal for equipment to help neonatal babies organised by Walsall Consultant Paediatrician Professor Abdul Gatrad has reached its target – after just six months.

Working with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Well Wishers charity, Professor Gatrad OBE and his small, but dedicated, team have held sales in the Manor Hospital, run bucket collections and organised events.

Matt is living life to the full – with HIV 

Matt Nolan received his HIV diagnosis in 2009 – and has been living his life to the full ever since!

He freely admits to being promiscuous over the years, enjoying a number of sexual partners, and not worrying too much about the consequences. He felt healthy and happy and “on top of the world” although he does admit to having a feeling at the back of his mind that there was the possibility he could have contracted the virus.
